🇧🇷⚠️🔥 — Brazilian violence and crime: After a wave of violence in the neighborhoods of the South Zone of Rio de Janeiro, groups of residents are coming together to prevent attacks and, if possible, neutralize criminals involved in organized robbery and theft schemes

‼️ Following a lapse in security and an imbalance between state and federal forces, the wave of violence in the state of Rio de Janeiro remains constant, with various reports of robberies by specialized gangs, mostly composed of minors.

☄️ As a result, news emerged this week alerting to a case where a businessman tried to defend a woman from being robbed and was beaten by at least 7 assailants. This generated discontent among the residents, who gathered and took to the streets with the intention of repelling and using violence against any criminals.

🚫 These scenes caused unprecedented chaos, with several favela residents (known as "pivetes") who descended from the outskirts to organize robberies, fleeing and leaving the residential neighborhoods of the capital.

🚩 It's worth noting that a similar movement occurred in Copacabana in 2015. Various groups mobilized neighborhood defense against assailants, but the left-wing Socialism and Liberty Party (PSOL) organized to prevent the action and defend the human rights of the criminals being pursued.
