🇻🇪🇬🇾🗳 📊— Elvis Amoroso, President of the National Electoral Council of Venezuela (CNE), in an initial bulletin, claimed that the voter turnout in Sunday's consultative referendum reached the figure of more than 10,554,320 million votes.

⚠️ However, if the number indeed refers to voters and not 5 votes per person, Amoroso would be asserting that the turnout surpassed the referendums of 2004 and 2007, tripled the votes of the PSUV in 2021, exceeded the Chavista voters in the presidential elections of 2012 and 2013, and even surpassed the alleged voters in the controversial elections of 2017, 2018, and 2020.

📌 Pay attention to the use of language: it seems that "votes" does not refer to "voters." In other words, we are talking about five votes per person: about 2,110,864 voters. If that is the case, the turnout would be lower than the opposition primary.

🇪🇪🇷🇺 Estonia says ‘prepared’ to close Russia border

Estonia said Wednesday (29 November) it was “prepared” to close its border with Russia following a similar move by Finland, with Tallinn citing a potential threat by its eastern neighbour.

Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna said the situation on Finland’s border, which has seen a surge in undocumented migrants in recent weeks, was “a blatant hybrid attack conducted by Russia”.

According to the statement by Estonian foreign ministry, Tsahkna added the Baltic state is “prepared to close its border with Russia and defend itself against any hybrid attacks”.

🇺🇸 🚫🇪🇪🇱🇻🇱🇹 Will NATO counterattack into the Baltics?

Although NATO is well known to have bases and combat groups in the three Baltic countries, the role of these formations as well as the role of the native militaries has often left a questionable taste in the mouth of any observer. With the Latvian military being the greatest example of the point to be made here, the intentions of each Baltic military is not one of pitched battle, but rather a constant withdrawal and disruption. When you, and your allies have doctrine that're essentially just stalling actions betting on the assumed arrival of reinforcements that will help counter attack the enemy and win the day, you'd better have a very good reason for assuming that will be the case. Recently however, some documents that came out of Poland put a massive question mark on this matter.

“The plan for the use of the armed forces, approved by the then head of the Defense Ministry Klich, stipulated that the country’s independent defense would last a maximum of two weeks, and in seven days the enemy would reach the right bank of the Vistula.”

This is a statement made by Minister of Defense Mariusz Błaszczaka concerning Defense Plan 2011, the primary reason for calling into question the reliability of NATO coming to the rescue of the Baltic countries. Although this document is no longer in use, more recent exercises and simulations such as Zima 20 show that regardless of NATO aid for Poland, it's possible for Russia and her allies to arrive at the Vistula within 5 days of an invasion, and battles to save Warsaw to begin. Naturally that makes the resupply, liberation, or reinforcement of the Baltics very difficult if your primary staging ground for that hypothetical assistance is not doing so well.

This, of course, doesn't even account for Latvia's hypothesized scenario for a war between itself and Russia, which alone will make the triggering of Article 5 nearly impossible. We discussed this scenario a bit in a past article and a telegra.ph post as well.
