🇷🇺📞⚡️— A Russian telecommunication cable in the Gulf of Finland was damaged last month in what is yet another attack on undersea infrastructure. Russian state-owned telecommunications operator Rostelecom notified Finland about the failur eof one of its cables, the Baltika telecom cable, on October 12th. The cable itself, a 1,000 kilometer long cable that connects St. Petersburg to Kaliningrad, runs through parts of Sweden and Finland's sea territories. After lengthy discussions with the Finnish government, the Russian repair vessel Spatsel Karev was able to enter the Finnish economic zone and begin repairs of the telecommunications cable. The culprit is yet unknown, but it is believed that this is somewhat related to the Balticconnector pipeline.
