— "EU chief diplomat Josep Borrell accused the Israeli government on Tuesday (10 October) of breaking international law by imposing a total blockade of Gaza in the wake of a Hamas attack on Israel while underlining the need for the bloc to continue funding the Palestinian Authority.

Speaking from Oman’s capital, Muscat, after an emergency meeting of EU foreign ministers, Borrell repeated the EU’s condemnation of attacks by Hamas that killed more than 1,000 Israelis, mostly civilians.

“Israel has the right to defend [itself], but it has to be done accordingly with international law, humanitarian law, and some decisions are contrary to international law,” he told reporters after the meeting."
