A conflict between the two superpowers would trigger mutually assured financial destruction.
Today, in the early stages of Cold War II between the US and China, an equivalent concept exists. To be sure, this conflict also has a nuclear dimension, now that the Chinese have massively enlarged their own nuclear arsenal. But not many people seem terribly worried about that aspect of the Sino-American rivalry. Rather, it is mutually assured financial destruction that constrains today’s superpowers and most clearly distinguishes Cold War II from Cold War I.

🇺🇸🇨🇳US Air Force Secretary Frank Kendall called on the US to optimize forces and be prepared for armed conflict with China.
The Secretary's statement was published by Fox News.
The Secretary noted that China has been building up its military power for 20 years.
“We must be prepared for a war in which we do not yet have experience,” the US Air Force Secretary said.
“China has been developing its weapons rapidly over the past 20 years, and now they have become a major problem,” Kendall said.
The Secretary warned that if US capabilities prove insufficient “to deter Chinese aggression against Taiwan or elsewhere,” then war could break out.

Evergrande Financial Wealth Management Co., based in Shenzhen, is a wholly-owned Evergrande unit established in 2015. The firm’s general manager is Du Liang, according to his Linkedin profile. Bloomberg News wasn’t able to verify that he is among the detainees."
