This comes amid the tensions between the Sahel Juntas and ECOWAS and the escalations of the separatist insurgency in southeastern Nigeria, as Pro-Biafra agitators and local separatist organizations impose a sort of curfew boycotting federal state institutions.

🇳🇪 Niger's strategic airspace
Niger's vast desert territory is crucial for flight routes in Africa, especially from Nigeria to North Africa and Europe. With the closure of Nigérien airspace, flights to and from Nigeria could become considerably longer and more expensive, with Nigerians paying the price.
Even from outside the region, flights between southern Africa and Europe will be affected, as these also pass over Nigérien territory.
If Mali and Burkina Faso were to apply the same rule as Niger, it would become almost totally economically unviable to run direct flights between Nigeria (and much of West Africa) and Europe.

Al-Arab Newspaper: Shiite Militias are accused of instigating demographic changes in Mosul and wider Nineveh province, displacing Christians.
• Mosul's bishops allege Hashd al-Shaabi groups have seized Christian properties, preventing the return of thousands of displaced families and are resettling Shiite citizens in their place.
• A demonstration against this change, led by the head of Mosul's council of bishops, was held in Karaqush. Hashd al-Shaabi barred journalists from covering the event.
• Accusations extend to the commander of operations in Nineveh and the commanders of the 30th brigade for complicity in the demographic alteration.
• An Iraqi parliament source claims armed groups, with political and foreign backing, aim for demographic change in liberated cities.
• As per the Iraqi Human Rights Commission's 2012 report, the Christian population in Iraq has dramatically reduced from 1.5 million before 2003 to 250,000.
