🇳🇪 Niger protesters massing for pro-coup demonstration

People have been gathering at a square in central Niamey, the capital of Niger, to show their support for last week's military coup.

On the anniversary of the country's independence a coalition of civil society organisations called for people to turn up to denounce the sanctions imposed by the West African regional bloc, Ecowas.

A sizeable crowd of mostly young men has shown up at independence square. They already started the pro-coup manifestation, waving Niger and Russian flags, denounce ECOWAS and France.

🇳🇪 Prigozhin interview about situation in Niger

PMC Wagner leader Yevgeny Prigozhin gave comments regarding the situation in Niger for the African edition of l'Afrique Libre. Here are some excerpts from his interview:

▪️Economics is the main reason for the coup and anti-French sentiment in Niger, as the population is in poverty and France exploited their resource abundance.

▪️France only gave 5% of all profits from the resources in Niger to the people of the country.

▪️The people of Niger, if they controlled the resources themselves, would be rich and happy.

▪️The terrorists in Sahel region were created, financed and controlled by the UN, France, UK, USA, EU and other Western countries, as only a huge number of trained troops could control such a large number of "terrorists".

▪️The terrorists in Niger are an attempt to cover up France's economic crimes. The population in Niger was kept in fear with the help of militants. To fight the "terrorists" Niger was literally forced to be pumped full of troops from France, the US, etc.

▪️ Toppled president Bazoum's government allowed France to rampage in Niger. He and other higher officials were just covering up the plundering of the country.

▪️Now there is a "liberation struggle for the independence of the country," and "God willing, they will succeed," added the head of PMC Wagner.

#Russia / #Ukraine 🇷🇺🇺🇦: A quite cute and interesting video posted by a #Ukrainian mortar unit with their cats 🐈.

In the background, a crates of 82mm 40M10 HE mortar bombs can be seen.
These are produced by #Azerbaijan 🇦🇿 seemingly in 2022 and possibly supplied by a third party.

#Russia / #Ukraine 🇷🇺🇺🇦: A new photo posted by a #Ukrainian combatant displays several rather interesting cluster munitions!

The projectiles in the photo are 155mm M483A1 DPICMs.
Judging by the characteristics of the markings; they appear to be produced by MKE in #Turkey 🇹🇷.

🇺🇸🇮🇷📰 Arab News: US military may put armed troops on commercial ships in Strait of Hormuz to stop Iran seizures
— " The US military is considering putting armed personnel on commercial ships traveling through the Strait of Hormuz, in what would be an unheard of action aimed at stopping Iran from seizing and harassing civilian vessels, four American officials told The Associated Press on Thursday.

America didn’t even take the step during the so-called “Tanker War,” which culminated with the US Navy and Iran fighting a one-day naval battle in 1988 that was the Navy’s largest since World War II.

While officials offered few details of the plan, it comes as thousands of Marines and sailors on both the amphibious assault ship USS Bataan and the USS Carter Hall, a landing ship, are on their way to the Arabian Gulf. Those Marines and sailors could provide the backbone for any armed guard mission in the strait, through which 20 percent of all the world’s crude oil passes."
