>Jihadist rebels launch new attack in northeastern Latakia

– The jihadist rebels launched a new attack on Friday that targeted the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) positions inside the northeastern countryside of the Latakia Governorate.

Led by Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham, the jihadist rebels attempted to infiltrate the Syrian Army’s positions near the town of Nibh Almur; this attack was partially successful as they managed to kill a few soldiers.

Following the infiltration attempt, a fierce battle broke out between the two warring parties, resulting in heavy casualties for all involved.

The clashes have since died down after many of the jihadist rebels retreated back to their lines in northern Latakia; however, the Syrian Arab Army is still attempting to eliminate the last the Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham infiltrators in the area.

— North Korea reportedly launched multiple unidentified short-range missiles on Saturday.

Word of the missile firings was reported by Yonhap News Agency, citing South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS).

The country "fired multiple rounds of unidentified missiles from its east coast town of Wonsan in the northeastern direction" the agency said, citing a news release. It took place "between 9:06 a.m. and 9:27 a.m." local time, the outlet said. The missile was reportedly launched toward the East Sea.

— About a thousand people marched through Odessa‘s city centre on the fifth anniversary of the day of Odessa tragedy on Thursday.

Protesters were seen holding Ukrainian national flags at the so-called 'Ukrainian order march' and chanting 'Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the Heroes'. In the evening they lit red torches and continued chanting slogans.

On May 2, 2014, 48 people died and over were 200 injured in a series of events that culminated in a large fire ripping through Odessa's Trade Union building. After clashes erupted between anti-Maidan and pro-Maidan protesters, the latter group reportedly set fire to the Trade Unions building where anti-Maidan demonstrators had found refuge.

— The Houthis launched a new limited military operation south of the southern Saudi province of Najran on May 3.
In the course of the operation, the Yemeni group captured a strategic mountain chain near the al-Sudais mount.

A video of the operation, released by the Houthis media wing, shows Houthi fighters targeting Saudi-led coalition and its proxies with heavy machine guns as they advance near al-Sudais. Several bodies of Saudi-backed fighters, who had been killed in the clashes, can be also seen in the video.

After securing the mountain chain, the Houthis uncovered loads of weapons and ammunition, including heavy machine guns and rocket-propelled grenades, which had been left behind by coalition troops.
