Early on when I first joined I think the Resistance were a little worried about me and that I would be Enlightened bias. I expected that. I was known throughout the Enlightend and Resistance community as being an Enlightened organizer and planner. But when I was hired I made it a point to remain as impartial and unbiased as I could in my everday life. When I play the game and my scanner is open I am Enlightened. Outside of the game when my scanner is not open I am Andrew the Global Community Manager for Niantic and faction doesn't have any place in my job as it relates to me personally. Some of my biggest supporters these days are now Resistance. I hope I've done a good job of convincing everyone that I will remain unbiased as GCM. If I do something that is biased, please point it out to me. I won't be offended. Even my bio card is gray and red. No faction colors.

Well from my point of view you are doing a great job. It requires some mental power to remain impartial, I gotta say. But has anything changed for your gameplay? Do you, say, spend more time on Ingress off-scanner (e.g. organizing events & socializing) than in-scanner (e.g. fielding, ops, upv) now?

My game play has changed a bit. Because my time is limited I have to really maximize my oppotunities. So when I do play it is for a very specific reason with a goal in mind as opposed to just walking around town doing whatever. I don't do any organizing any more. I left all of those chats unless people wanted me to remain so they could talk to the GCM. But I'm not part of planning anything anymore. I miss that aspect of it. But it is a sacrfice I must make.

我的游戏玩法确实有点改变。毕竟我的时间有限，我必须最大限度地利用好时间。所以我现在玩游戏的时候，一般会出于一个非常具体的目标，而不只是在城闲逛。我退掉了一批群聊，只留下了供玩家跟GCM沟通用的群。所以我现在也不再组织各种活动或者进行活动规划什么的了。这是我必须要做的一些牺牲。

I admire your sacrifice. I really do. But to know you are sacrificing for the greater good somehow makes it feel better, no? For a lot of people like us, it is sometimes hard to remain impartial even if we tried. The pressure from your own faction, for example... How did your friends and faction comrades reacted to the news when you had to leave?

我真的很佩服你的牺牲。不过当你看到你的牺牲换来了社群更好的发展大概会感觉好一些吧。对于我们这样的人来说，努力保持公正真的很艰辛，甚至还会面临来自阵营的压力等等......当你（因为Niantic的工作）不得不退出一些阵营组织时，你的朋友对这个消息有什么反应吗？

I think most people were very happy for me. I recieved a lot of positive support and messages when it was finally announced. I was a bit disappointed that I wouldn't be involved as much with my local faction as I was in the past. But it was for the best. Nothing but love.
