In 1965, Soviet scientists tested the Volga Atom car with an atomic engine with 320 horsepower (a lot for that time). The motor weighed 500 kilograms, so there were not 2 wheels in front, but 4. Such a car could go a long time without refueling. Tests showed that without refueling "Volga Atom" passes 60 thousand kilometers. It turned out that after that, the engine had to be replaced with a new one. But Soviet scientists corrected this problem, they created an engine with gas-phase fuel in the form of uranium hexafluoride instead of solid uranium and the new version of the car passed 40 thousand kilometers without refueling. For refueling it was now enough to pump a new supply of uranium hexafluoride into the cylinders and the car drove on.
When Khrushchev retired, the cars were dismantled and research in this area stopped.

In the 1950s, Harvard psychologist Kurt Richter conducted a cruel experiment: he put rats in a pool of water to see how long they would cling to life.
It turned out that on average they gave up and drowned after 15 minutes. That was the case with one group of rats.
As for the second, before the test subjects gave up, the researcher pulled them out of the water. He dried them, fed them, let them rest for a few minutes and threw them back in. There was hope for the rats.
How long do you think they could last in the second round? Another 15 minutes? 10 minutes? 5? No, 60 hours!
The conclusion is obvious: because the rats believed in their continued salvation, they were able to force their bodies to do the impossible and pushed their limit.
