Welding technology was known in the 19th century, but apparently was not considered as effective as riveting.
They fastened everything from pipes to bridges to ships with the same ease as nails to wood. They were somehow melted into even the most inaccessible places, despite the fact that they were made of steel.
Today, such a perfect connection can only be achieved with a CNC riveting press. But you understand yourself - it's difficult, expensive, and also noisy and vibrating. But how did our ancestors do it?
In the old pictures there is a riveter's tool, to which some kind of hose is attached. Apparently, this device melted the rivet and firmly seated it in the hole of the joint, requiring no helpers, no time, and no effort.

Hohenzollern Castle
"Castle in the clouds" - this is how the German castle Hohenzollern is called because of its location. The castle is located high in the mountains, and therefore it seems as if its top reaches into the sky.
The modern Hohenzollern is already the third castle. The first was completely destroyed during the war in the 15th century. A few years later at the same place was built the second castle, which lasted until the end of the 18th century. Today only the Chapel of St. Michael has remained of it. In the mid-19th century the Prussian king Friedrich Wilhelm IV had a third Hohenzollern built, on which the best architects and artists of the time worked.

In North America, in California, there are amazing anthropomorphic figures and a huge labyrinth. In the manner of creation, the Blythe geoglyphs resemble objects from the Nazca Plateau.

I present you the 18th century painting "View of the Arch of Constantine with the Colosseum" by Italian painter Giovanni Antonio Canali, also known as Canaletto (left photo). And here on the right is a modern photo of the same Arch of Constantine.
For you the marks are specially marked with the height of people, relative to the columns of this arch. The naked eye can see that the people in the picture are about 2.5 times higher than today. As they say, "Any questions?"
