The population grew rapidly and social degradation soon began to appear. Young males became victims of aggression and lost interest in defense and reproduction. Fertility fell, mortality rose, and by 1780 the last mouse had died.

The experiment showed that in the midst of abundance and lack of challenge, society loses its ability to survive and destroys itself. Paradise turned out to be the end.
