TRUMP’S APPROVAL RATING HITS RECORD-LOW 33%; DEMOCRATS LEAD GOP BY 7.5 POINTS
Donald Trump’s approval rating has fallen to a record-low 33%, with growing voter dissatisfaction over the economy and cost of living.
Adding to Republican concerns ahead of the November midterms, 46% of voters say Trump is making it harder for Republican congressional candidates to win, while Democrats hold a 7.5-point lead over Republicans in voting intentions.
The latest FT–Focaldata poll, conducted among 1,914 registered voters, suggests Trump’s political standing could increasingly become a liability for the GOP.

IRAN WARNS OF NEW HORMUZ RESTRICTIONS
IRAN'S SECURITY COUNCIL SECRETARY REZAEI ESCALATES HORMUZ WARNING
• IRAN SAYS IT WILL ANNOUNCE A NEW RESTRICTED ZONE OUTSIDE THE STRAIT OF HORMUZ IN THE COMING DAYS AND WEEKS.
• THE ZONE WOULD START AT THE US NAVY'S BLOCKADE LINE AND EXTEND THROUGH THE STRAIT INTO THE PERSIAN GULF.
• ANY SHIP ENTERING THE ZONE WITH THE INTENTION OF PASSING THROUGH HORMUZ WOULD BE ADDED TO IRAN'S SANCTIONS LIST.
• REZAEI CLAIMS IRAN RECENTLY TESTED AN ANTI-SHIP MISSILE OVER A US WARSHIP, SAYING THE US VESSEL “FLED.”
• HE CLAIMS US VESSELS ATTEMPTING TO PASS THROUGH THE AREA ARE BEING TARGETED, BUT SAYS IRAN HAS NOT DECIDED TO SINK THEM BECAUSE THEY CARRY PETROLEUM PRODUCTS.
• REZAEI SAYS IRAN WILL KEEP HORMUZ OPEN AS LONG AS THE US DOES NOT THREATEN OR ATTACK IRAN.
• HE ALSO REJECTED CLAIMS THAT US SANCTIONS ARE CAUSING MAJOR FAMINE IN IRAN, SAYING THE COUNTRY HAS SUFFICIENT STOCKS OF FOOD AND BASIC GOODS.
• REZAEI ACCUSED WASHINGTON OF SEEKING “COMPLETE CONTROL” OVER IRAN AND SAID TEHRAN HAS EVERY RIGHT TO DISTRUST THE US.
• KEY RISK: A FORMAL RESTRICTED ZONE AND SANCTIONS AGAINST SHIPS COULD FURTHER ESCALATE THE HORMUZ STANDOFF, RAISING SHIPPING, INSURANCE AND GLOBAL OIL-SUPPLY RISKS.
