ROI Methodology

Our system calculates a time-weighted average account value to prevent competition gaming. Here's how:

1. Collects account snapshots from user registration through competition end using Hyperliquid's portfolio API
2. Calculates time-weighted average by measuring how long the account stayed at each value level
3. Uses the formula: ROI = (PnL / Time-Weighted Average) × 100

This prevents traders from:
- Depositing large amounts right before snapshot times
- Gaming with tiny starting balance
- Withdrawing funds strategically to inflate percentages

We've been receiving many queries from users about Based preventing users from wash trading. In our conversations with users, we tend to discourage users from wash trading as it is not desirable.

Our goal at Based is to build the best trading tools to ensure Hyperliquid users gain an edge versus traders on CEX. While everyone is generally bullish on our ecosystem as a whole, our team has no intention of extracting fees at our users' expense. This is also why our builder fee is amongst one of the lower-mid tier ones.

While we do not actively hunt wash traders, it is important to understand that we wish for our traders to profit not only from our ecosystem, but it is also important to us that they profit from trading activities.

This is one of our most important goals in building Based! Our team is generally strict on Sybils who provide no economic benefit to our ecosystem, and are generally net extractors.

Other than that, we tend to favor our loyal users who stay. We have some updates coming out for some of our core loyal users soon!
