The bull market in crypto has begun - it's time to get optimistic and position for what's coming.
Despite the recent heavy manipulation pushing BTC and ETH lower (with BTC dipping below $60K and ETH sub-$2K in the past week), this feels like classic shakeout action at the end of a brutal bear phase. Sentiment is at rock-bottom levels - similar to November 2022 - where everyone expects more downside. But the macro picture is flipping hard in our favour, and prices remain incredibly cheap relative to the opportunity ahead.
Key macro indicator: The ISM Manufacturing PMI just surged to 52.6 in January 2026 (up sharply from 47.9 in December), marking the first expansion in manufacturing activity in over a year and the strongest reading since 2022. A PMI above 52 signals a "risk-on" environment we've been starved for after the longest risk-off stretch in recent history - approx 40 months of sub-52 readings. Historically, this shift has preceded massive rallies in risk assets, including crypto.
Look at the Russell 2000 as another confirmation - small caps (the "shitcoins" of stocks, no revenue in risk-off mode) are ripping early this year, up strong in January and showing real momentum YTD. You don't get that outperformance when everyone's running for the hills. We've been deep in risk-off for years; this is the shift to risk-on we've been waiting for.
On the crypto side:
• ETH has shown relative strength - it's flipped green on the weekly supertrend against BTC in recent action, pointing to a surge in altcoin momentum for the upcoming bull run
• BTC dominance is still elevated (around 58-59%), but cracks are appearing, and alt/BTC ratios look properly bottomed, starting to curl up even as sentiment hits all-time lows
• That brutal puke in the past week or so - ETH dipping sub-2k again, BTC testing sub-60k at points - felt super artificial. Probably big players and LPs cascading stops in thin liquidity. Sentiment right now mirrors November 2022, when everyone was convinced we'd go way lower... right before the flip
This altcoin bear has been the most brutal on record - nearly 5 years of pain, black-swan-level rinses wiping out weak hands and the market consuming souls. Only strong hands are left, the ones who'll ride to zero or hero. The longer and more painful the base, the higher and more violent the pump to space.
Crypto fundamentals have never been stronger: real adoption is growing (DeFi maturing, gaming heating up, algorithmic stablecoins evolving, tokenized assets coming online), institutional infrastructure is solid with ETFs, and now macro tailwinds are finally lining up perfectly.
I expect ETH to lead the charge and hit new ATHs before BTC this year as capital rotates hard into alts once dominance cracks lower. We'll see exciting narratives explode or re-emerge: gaming, DeFi upgrades, algorithmic stables, upgraded AI agents and whatever fresh stories catch fire.
The next 12-18 months (through 2027) is exactly the window we've been grinding toward since 2022. Prices are still incredibly cheap relative to the upside coming - macro super bullish, opportunity at maximum right here. Our long-awaited bags are about to get repriced viciously higher, solidifying crypto with real-world use cases that bring in participants who stick around for the long haul. I am optimistic about the future.
Tldr: we’ve just experienced a 4 year alt coin bear market which, based on macro data and alt coin ratios, has concluded and we will now start the real bull market many of us have positioned for.
We've walked through hell and now we are heading back unfazed by whatever this unjust and wicked world throws at us. are you with me?
