🇺🇸 Governor Gavin Newsom has signed AB 2409, tightening restrictions on public officials using their positions to profit from meme coins.

📌 Under the new law:
🖤 California public officials and certain public employees are prohibited from issuing their own meme coins.
⭐ Starting January 1, 2027, crypto platforms may not offer California users new meme coins issued by or in partnership with federal, state, or local officials.
🖤 Enforcement authorities may require the return of benefits obtained through violations via disgorgement.
⚡️ The law does not ban meme coins in general. DOGE, SHIB, PEPE, and others are not automatically affected simply because they are meme coins.
