Yererouk Armenia 1979-1991
(also known as Ererouk or Yereruyk) is an ancient Armenian Apostolic basilica located near the village of Anipemza in the Shirak Province of Armenia, situated on a plateau near the Akhurian River bordering Turkey.
According to official history it was nuilt during the Paleo-Christian epoch (4th–6th centuries) and it is one of the earliest surviving examples of Armenian church architecture and is considered a unique monument due to its basilica style constructed on pillars, lacking the dome typical of later Armenian religious structures. The name Yererouk means "quivering" in Armenian, derived from the visual illusion of the structure appearing to tremble on its six columns.
