"How you face and handle a losing trade is what determines a trader's success or failure"
It's not about a beautiful win rate like 8-2 or 9-1
Anyone who's been "living" in the market long enough has probably experienced the feeling of just 1-2 losing trades… wiping out the gains of 8-9 previous winning trades.
And often, the reason isn't necessarily because of entering with too large a volume. It's because of the inflated ego after a winning streak.
When winning continuously, people easily start believing:
"I can read the market"
"I'm right"
"I'm different from the majority"
Then, when the market delivers a small mistake…
Instead of accepting it as a normal part of the game, we try to fight back
Holding onto losses
Seeking revenge on the market
Entering more trades to recover losses
Completely ruining the plan just because we can't accept that we were wrong
And the result, you know.
This market is interesting because:
It operates on mathematical probability but delves extremely deep into human psychology.
It's a place where greed, overconfidence, fear, ego… are all thoroughly exploited
Leading you to make incredibly "stupid" decisions, even when you think you're at your most clear-headed
So after a long enough time, you'll realize:
Analysis, technical analysis, setups, strategies… All of these only increase your chances of winning. What determines how long you survive in the market is how you act when you're wrong.
• Learn to accept losses
• Learn to act correctly even when you're wrong
• Learn to stop when your mindset is unstable
• Learn to maintain discipline even when no one is watching
When you accomplish these things, the market awards you a "graduation certificate"😂
