🔊Weekly Market Highlights #153 June 2 - June 8, 2025

✨The crypto market in early June 2025 began to cool off following BTC’s recent ATH, with a sudden correction triggered by the unexpected fallout between Elon Musk and Donald Trump.

✨Over the past week, the crypto market total capitalization increased by ~$20B (from ~$3305B to ~$3325B).

✨BTC Faces Resistance at $106K Amid Market Turmoil
✅BTC attempted to break out of its consolidation zone early in the week, facing resistance at $106K and $106.5K on Monday and Tuesday. Those rejections pushed the price back to the lower end of its range.

✅The bulls regrouped on Thursday, but BTC was rejected once again at $106K. This time, the correction was sharper, possibly triggered by rising tensions between President Trump and Tesla’s Elon Musk. The asset plunged to a multi-week low of $100.4K.

✅Approaching the key $100K threshold, BTC found support and began to rebound. By midday Friday, it had recovered to $105K. While volatility persisted, BTC was capped again at $106K and now hovers slightly lower around $105.5K.

✨Featured News
✅A big rift has emerged between President Donald Trump and Elon Musk, following Musk’s exit from the DOGE office - a government initiative aimed at cutting public spending. Tensions escalated as Musk criticized Trump’s upcoming Big Beautiful Bill Act, claiming it would undo months of budget-cutting efforts and massively inflate the U.S. public debt.

The conflict has had major market repercussions. Tesla (TSLA) shares dropped over 14% on June 5, wiping out more than $150B in market value. BTC was also affected, falling from $105.9K to $100.4K - its lowest level in nearly a month. The broader crypto market saw altcoins correct between 5% and 20%, reflecting rising investor caution.

✅Binance founder Changpeng Zhao has shared a new idea to tackle one of DeFi’s biggest challenges: MEV. He suggests using “dark pool” mechanisms on DEXs, where large orders and positions are hidden using advanced encryption or zero-knowledge proofs. This would prevent front-running and reduce the risk of manipulation. Zhao invites developers with similar ideas to collaborate and expand on the concept.
