Bihar scholar wins Sahitya Akademi Award for Translation

Renowned writer–translator Prof Ratneshwar Mishra of Bihar’s Purnia district won the Sahitya Akademi Award for translation for the book ‘Azadi’ in Maithili.

The novel Azadi authored by Chaman Nahal commonly known as C Nahal in English is considered his best novel and the author had won Sahitya Akademi Award for the novel in 1977. The novel published in 1975 tells his experiences of having lived in Sialkot during the period of partition.

बिहार के पूर्णिया जिले के प्रसिद्ध लेखक-अनुवादक प्रोफेसर रत्नेश्वर मिश्रा ने मैथिली में 'आजादी' पुस्तक के अनुवाद के लिए साहित्य अकादमी पुरस्कार जीता।

चमन नाहल द्वारा लिखित आज़ादी उपन्यास को आमतौर पर अंग्रेजी में सी नाहल के रूप में जाना जाता है, उनका सर्वश्रेष्ठ उपन्यास माना जाता है और लेखक ने 1977 में उपन्यास के लिए साहित्य अकादमी पुरस्कार जीता था। 1975 में प्रकाशित उपन्यास विभाजन अवधि के दौरान उनके सियालकोट की अनुभवों को बताता है।।
