JAL-JEEVAN-HARIYALI Abhiyaan
The JAL-JEEVAN-HARIYALI Abhiyaan is being implemented in coordination with various departments and the Rural Development Department has been designated as the Nodal Department.
Its logo: Water, Life and Greenery, only then will be Prosperity.
Components of JAL-JEEVAN-HARIYALI Mission are(11)-
◦ Identifying and removing encroachments from public water bodies, reservoirs, etc
◦ Restoration and rejuvenation of public water bodies such as Ponds/Tanks/Aahars/Payeens.
◦ Identification and renovation of public wells.
◦ Construction of soak pits/recharge pits and other water conservation structure near public wells and hand pumps.
◦ Construction of check dams and water conservation structures near small rivers, drains and water storage structures in hilly areas.
◦ Construction of New Water Resources. Channelling/delivering water from the rivers having surplus water to the water deficit areas.
◦ Roof Top Rain-Water Harvesting Structure.
◦ Developing nurseries and massive afforestation.
◦ Adaptation of alternative agriculture, drip irrigation bio-farming and other new techniques.
◦ Promoting use of solar energy and savings on energy.
◦ JAL-JEEVAN-HARIYALI awareness campaign.
बिहार राज्य मंत्रिमंडल ने अगले तीन वर्षों के लिए जल-जीवन-हरियाली मिशन के विस्तार को मंजूरी दी।
जल-जीवन-हरियाली अभियान
जल-जीवन-हरियाली अभियान को विभिन्न विभागों के समन्वय से कार्यान्वित किया जा रहा है और ग्रामीण विकास विभाग को नोडल विभाग के रूप में नामित किया गया है।
इसका लोगो: जल, जीवन और हरियाली, तभी होगी समृद्धि।
जल-जीवन-हरियाली मिशन के घटक हैं(11):
1. सार्वजनिक जल निकायों, जलाशयों आदि से अतिक्रमण की पहचान करना और हटाना
तालाबों/टैंकों/आहारों/ पेयीनों जैसे सार्वजनिक जल निकायों का जीर्णोद्धार और कायाकल्प।
2. सार्वजनिक कुओं की पहचान और नवीनीकरण।
3. सार्वजनिक कुओं और हैंडपंपों के पास सोक पिट / रिचार्ज पिट और अन्य जल संरक्षण संरचना का निर्माण।
4. पहाड़ी क्षेत्रों में छोटी नदियों, नालों और जल भंडारण संरचनाओं के पास चेक डैम और जल संरक्षण संरचनाओं का निर्माण।
5. नए जल संसाधनों का निर्माण।
6. अधिशेष जल वाली नदियों से जल की कमी वाले क्षेत्रों में जल को चैनलिंग/डिलीवरी करना।
7. रूफ टॉप रेन-वाटर हार्वेस्टिंग स्ट्रक्चर।
8. नर्सरी का विकास और बड़े पैमाने पर वनीकरण।

Endangered Greater Adjutant storks grow in Bihar
After the successful conservation of river dolphins, Bihar has now scripted another success story in protecting greater adjutant storks, which were considered closer to extinction a couple of decades ago.
Apart from Bihar, particularly in Bhagalpur’s Kosi riverine belt, it is found only in some pockets in Assam’s Brahmaputra valley. The number of Greater Adjutant Storks in the Kadwa-Kosi riverine belt alone is now estimated to have crossed 600. India now accounts for 90% of the greater adjutant storks population with Bihar’s Kosi riverine belt being the main contributor.
One of the key factors behind their near extinction was rampant hunting during the Mughal era and later misconception about antidote for snake poison in their head. Some nomadic tribes also ate them.
While Bhagalpur now has a bird ringing and monitoring station, the state also celebrates state bird fair- Kalrav, to showcase the diversity.
