یکی از موارد مهم در فراگيري واژگان انگلیسی، یادگیری Collocation ها است. Collocation ها از مجموع دو يا چند واژه تشكيل مي‌شوند كه معمولا در گفتار يا نوشتار كنار هم مي‌آيند و به ‌معناي خاصي دلالت مي‌كنند. اين كلمات و تركيبات بيشتر توسط كساني كه زبان مادري آنها انگليسي است استفاده مي‌شوند
(Native Speakers).

Collocation معمولا در نگاه اول از نظر غيرانگليسي‌ زبانها غيرطبيعي و حتي نادرست به‌نظر مي‌رسند اما اين موارد دقيقاً همان روشي است كه يك انگليسي زبان (Native) از آن استفاده مي‌كند.

-در زبان انگليسي هر كلمه‌اي نمي‌تواند در كنار كلمه‌اي ديگر قرار بگيرد، اين گونه كلمات را فقط در هنگام مكالمه با يك انگليسي زبان و يا در متون انگليسي مي‌توان آموخت.
ديكشنري Collocation‌ ها يا کلمات همنشین و هم‌آيندها، گنجينه‌اي از عبارات كليدي موجود در گفتار و نوشتار انگليسي ‌زبانها مي‌باشد كه در مكالمه و مكاتبات نقش به‌سزايي دارند.
