توجه داشته باشید که کلمه work در معنی "کار" غیر قابل شمارش هست و نباید جمع بسته شود.
📕اما اگر این کلمه در معنی کتاب یا اثر هنری باشد قابل جمع هست و میتواند جمع بسته شود.
📃The works of Shakespeare are many.
📗البته works معنی دیگه ای هم داره و آن "کارخانه یا کارگاه" هستش.
📃Today I visited the steel works.
➖امروز یه سر به کارخانه فولاد زدم.

1)George
This is the true story of George Phillips of Meridian, Mississippi, who was going to bed when his wife told him that he'd left the light on in the shed. George opened the door to go turn off the light but saw there were people in the shed in the process of stealing things.
He immediately phoned the police, who asked, "Is someone in your house?" and George said, "No," and explained the situation. Then they explained that all patrols were busy, and that he should simply lock his door and an officer would be there when available.
George said, "Okay," hung up, counted to 30, and phoned the police again.
"Hello, I just called you a few seconds ago because there were people in my shed. Well, you don't have to worry about them now because I've just shot them all."
Then he hung up. Within five minutes three squad cars, an Armed Response unit, and an ambulance showed up. Of course, the police caught the burglars red-handed.
One of the policemen said to George, "I thought you said that you'd shot them!"
George said, "I thought you said there was nobody available!"
این داستانی واقعی از جورج فیلیپس از خط نصف النهار، میسیسیپی است که وقتی می خواست بره بخوابه ، همسرش بهش گفت که چراغ توی آلونک روشن مونده.جورج درو باز کرد که بره چراغ و خاموش کنه اما دید که چند نفر مشغول دزدی بودن.
اون سریع به پلیس زنگ زد.پلیس گفت : کسی تو خونه ی شماست ؟
جورج گفت :نه ، و موقعیت رو توضیح دادبعد اونها توضیح دادن که همه ی گشت ها سرشون شلوغه و اون فقط باید در رو قفل کنه و هر وقت پلیسی در دسترس باشه میاد اونجا.جورج گفت : باشه. گوشی و گذاشت، تا 30 شمرد و دوباره به پلیس زنگ زد : سلام ، من همین چند لحظه پیش زنگ زده بودم چون چند نفرتو آلونک من بودن. لازم نیست دیگه نگرانشون باشین ،چون من همین الان به همشون تیر اندازی کردم و بعد تلفن و قطع کرد. 5 دقیقه نشد که 3 گروه ماشین ، یه واحد مسلح و یه آمبولانس ظاهر شدند. پلیس دزدا رو حین ارتکاب جرم گرفت. یکی از پلیس ها به جورج گفت : فکر کنم شما گفتین که بهشون شلیک کردین !
جورج گفت : منم فکر کنم شما گفتین هیچ پلیسی در دسترس نبود!

در جملات had better را زمانی بکار می بریم که در صورت انجام ندادن آن عمل یک نتیجه منفی باعث شود. و بیشتر برای امور خاص استفاده می شود.
اما should فقط یک توصیه است. و برای توصیه در امور کلی استفاده می شود.
اگر به مثالها توجه کنید ،متوجه خواهید شد.
It is raining. You had better take your umbrella.
داره بارون میاد . شما بهتر است چتر تان را بردارید.
(یعنی اگر چتر بر ندارید ، خیس میشوید) یک نتیجه منفی.
the police are coming you had better run away.
اما در جمله زیر:
You should brush your teeth.
شما بهتره دندان هایتان را مسواک بزنید.
(یک توصیه ی کلی است).

توی کافه تریای یه مدرسه ی کاتولیک ،یک راهبه یه یادداشت جلوی مقدار زیادی سیب میذاره : " فقط یه دونه بردارین، خدا داره تماشا می کنه. "
دورتر از اون یه عالمه شیرینی بود.یه پسر بچه ، یادداشت خودشو می نویسه : " هر چقدر که می خواین بردارین . خدا داره سیب ها رو تماشا می کنه ."
