The reality is, folks with guns standing outside of retail stores hurts their sales opportunities, makes asset protection much more dangerous, and incites increases in armed robberies. Any time someone who is not asset protection gets involved with trying to be a vigilante during shoplifting, asset protection staff, who are already severely underpaid, have to be hands off then to avoid company liability. You make it impossible for folks to do their actual job when you show up armed outside their stores and you hurt businesses and communities by doing this. So if you cared so much, you'd let what happens happen, and you'd let insurance take care of their end of the deal. You're not helping anybody. Vigilantes will encourage folks to quit their roles in Asset Protection for safety reasons, and vigilantes will force stores to have to take more drastic measures to protect their stores from them.

So just so everyone knows. If you show up with an army from out of state and invade Asheville NC, police will leave you alone. If you're schizophrenic, homeless, with a knife, police wont de-escalate the situation. They will just execute you. Disarming someone with a knife is something that is very simple to do and de-escalate someone with schizophrenia is something cops should be trained to do. Cops dont protect us.

The violent far-right has decided that their new hero is a violent kid and a murderer, all of this to defend a brutal police state. I don't think there's really anything to be added.
