Veteran Israeli peace activist Gershon Baskin writes: "This campaign is not military it is political. When will you understand. 20 years of Qassams and you're still talking about deterrence? Netanyahu has long chosen to keep a weakened Hamas in power and an illegitimate Palestinian Authority in the West Bank so as not to negotiate with the Palestinians. It is not about Sheikh Jarrah and not even about Al-Aqsa - this is about the occupation. What do you really expect from the Palestinian people - that they will lie down and simply accept the occupation as if it is their destiny forever? Netanyahu, and Trump and perhaps even the Gulf states thought they had put the Palestinian issue in a bottle, so let it be clear - the bottle cap has exploded. The Palestinian issue will not go away. The solution is at a negotiating table and not on the battlefield. There is no deterrence against a people who fight for their freedom - we as a people know that better than others."

Happy fall of the 3rd precinct!

Exactly 30 days from today the washington eviction moratorium will come to an end, and thousands of people will be cut loose with no support (around 160,000 households throughout washington from a US Census Bureau survey back in March). Now is the time to be preparing and talking to your neighbors and getting well aquatinted with your countys eviction process. During the start of the pandemic, people in cities all over the US shut down eviction courts, and throughout the pandemic people launched rent strikes, resisted evictions, and took over empty houses and buildings as the state left the poorest of us to fend for ourselves. And now the minimal protections that we did have are coming to an end to mark the beginning of a whole new crisis of housing, especially as landlords and speculators seek to recoup their losses from the pandemic.

For Thurston County, eviction court is held every friday starting at 8am. Its both in person and over zoom.
