Civilization comes at a cost.
The price is steep, all things good and mighty surrendered, virility, wildness, risk. It costs our Strength, our Courage, our Wisdom, our mastery of self and most of all our honor and nobility.

European and diasporan beauty and strength is the standard upon which all others are measured.
We take our attributes from our wild brethren.. the savage wolf, the bristly, stubborn boar, and the powerful, yet gentle bear.

We display these attributes throughout our tribes, but they are not visibly obvious to the naked eye.

Why is this?

Our natural environment is that of forest, tundra, and mountain.
It is where we come from and where we should strive to return. Not remain in a soulless concrete jungle that serves as a systematic prison where we have “freedom” to do as we choose.

True freedom consists of roaming free under an open sky where we can hike, camp, fish, hunt and wander in the mystery, beauty and silence of the natural world without intrusion from today’s hectic, mechanized society.
Absence from these restrictions liberates a beauty within us that can only be seen by the call of the wild.
The wilderness needs no justification and neither do we.

What do we see here?
A deer is hit with an arrow and its ribs grow around it, surrounding the missile.
Allegedly, it lived a long life after being struck.

The Three Fates
By Paul Thumann (19th century)

This is my favorite one, and am writing about the norns/fates in our folk beliefs and stories to be posted in the near future.
Quite an undertaking!

The Nornenbrunnen (Norn fountain) is a fountain built in Art Nouveau style. Constructed of Kirchheim limestone, it depicts the Norns, the three Germanic weavers of destiny: Urd, Verdandi, and Skuld, who lean against a large water bowl.
