Good morning, ward 102.
The Rand Water shutdown has been successfully completed within the time-frame expected.
The Johannesburg system is being replenished.
Please understand this is not an off/on switch like electricity. It has taken days for the mega litres of water to drain out of the pipes- it will take days to fill those pipes.
Please continue to use water sparingly to allow the pipes to refill as quickly as possible.
Cllr Julie Suddaby
Dear Ward 99 residents.

Councillors met with Joburg water again this morning 16th July 2023 at 8am.
The city is seeing improved water flow however this are still significant areas that are dry especially in the Randburg, Roodepoort and Soweto areas.

• Eikenhof pump station – repairs on Q2 pipeline to Whiteridge system air valve completed on 15 July 2023 at 14:00 (Randburg/ Roodepoort) – Q2 isolation valve takes approx. 5 hours to open. Full load resumed last night at 21:30 (300MD/900WR) - at 07:00 pumping configuration is 300MD/1000WR.
• Zwartkopjes pump station – pumping at full load (200FH, 200Y & 100MD

*I raised the following issues*:

• We need a post mortem from this past week to understand the challenges and emergency plans
• Communications are still a struggle as many residents are still not seeing comms from jwater on their specific reservoirs and are clearly still not prepared for the 5 – 14 day recovery

*Randburg/ Roodepoort Update*

• System is not pressurised enough & some reservoirs do not have adequate capacity for pumping. Teams are busy starting pumps to supply empty towers from Rand Water Waterval side which feed the below areas
• Towers with low in and out flows & where towers are empty:
o Blairgowrie reservoir
o Linden 1 reservoir
o Linden 1 Tower

For current supply levels please see attached infographic from Joburg Water.

There is still no ETR on full restoration

Dear ward 99 residents

💦WATER UPDATE💦

Most areas in the ward seem to be coming back. Blairgowrie is still dry and I have alerted Jwater who are continuing to provide a stationary tanker in the area

Other areas are still experiencing up and down water pressure. This is as the system still finds normality which it will continue to do as water use spikes and reservoirs not being at the desired levels

These fluctuating levels will also cause bursts. If you see a burst please log it with customer@jwater.co.za
Feel free send the ref with image to Joburg water on twitter for further amplification.

*The system is nowhere near normality yet so please those with water, please continue to use sparingly to support areas still awaiting water. This also helps to steady the usage*
