First voicemail message π
- On April 9, 1860, Edouard-Leon Scott de Martinville inadvertently invented the first voice messageβdecades before voicemail would become the blessing and the curse it is today. What did he choose? He sang a 10-second clip of the French folk song βAu Clair de la Lune.β

First woman elected to Congress π©ββοΈ
- Jeannette Rankin, a Republican from Montana, made political history on November 7, 1916 when she became the first U.S woman elected to a national office. The irony, of course, is that women didnβt even win the right to vote until 1920.
She served for more than 60 years and later said her proudest moment was being the only woman who was able to vote in Congress for the womenβs right to vote.
