The fence on the Finnish-Russian border looks more like a garden fence, Finnish newspaper Ilta-Sanom reports.

On May 12, the Finnish Border Guard posted on Twitter a photo of a test section of the fence on the border with Russia. The pictures caused bewilderment among the Finns, who compared it to a garden fence or playground fence.

“The idea of a test section of the fence seems like some kind of joke. This piece of the fence does not correspond to the project that the border guard published in the fall,” said Jussi Laine, a professor at the University of Eastern Finland.

It is noted that the construction of the barrier will be completed within three to four years, and its cost is estimated at €380 million.
