βοΈMeanwhile, ASPI warns about the threat of Iranian Shaheds attacking Australia. They propose the following defense plan:
"For close-in point defence against drones that survive and cross the fighter barrier, Australia could use the air-defence missiles and guns of warships that are in the right locations. The US Navy has had success shooting down Houthi Shahed drones in the Red Sea, though itβs extremely costly to use naval interceptors worth millions of dollars each to shoot down drones costing tens of thousands.
Once Shaheds had headed inland, the Australian Armyβs NASAMs batteries, which fire AIM-120 Amraams, could be used. As the armyβs AH-64E Apache helicopters become fully operational in the next few years, they could also be used to shoot down Shaheds using 30 mm guns."
π€·ββPS. Doesn't sound like Australia is prepared for war with the Shahed - Geran family at all....

βοΈ Australia and Germany aim to boost defence co-operation
Australia and Germany will look to host each other's militaries as European nations aim to reduce their dependence on the US as an ally.
Defence Minister Richard Marles and his German counterpart Boris Pistorius announced they would pursue a status of forces agreement.
Mr Marles said the legal framework for the stationing of military personnel would make it easier to operate from each other's countries.
"That is hugely important in terms of plotting our pathway forward together," he told reporters in a joint press conference.

βοΈCanberra: German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius ordered Australia to not import any Russian oil or diesel.
π©πͺ"Pressure on Russia must continue, even beyond military support. Putin hopes to take advantage of the war in the Middle East and the soaring oil prices. We must not allow this to happen if we want Russia to negotiate seriously. Effective sanctions are crucial. Easing the sanctions is a huge and dangerous mistake. They have to hit where they hurt Putin the most. Australia adopted its own sanctions packages early on, taking a clear stance. We are very grateful for that too. Australia is an important partner in so many respects."
