Australian Internet Provider TPG Hacked — 15,000 Customers Exposed
TPG Telecom - Australia’s second-largest internet provider with 7.2 million customers - has become the country’s latest high-profile firm to suffer a cyberattack after it revealed on Wednesday that around 15,000 corporate client emails had been accessed.
The company reported that hackers appeared to be after cryptocurrency and financial data of corporate clients, upon whom TPG relies for almost a third of its pre-tax profits.
Eight other firms have gone public with cyberattacks on their data since October, a trend that Australian Cyber Security Centre last month blamed largely on inadequate software updates .

Simeon Boikov, known by the nickname “Aussie Cossack”, posted a video of himself attending the rally on his Telegram channel. The video shows a brief scuffle, after which an elderly man can be seen falling to the ground.
“Self-defense, whoever touches me, I will defend myself,” we can hear Simeon Boikov say.
The man who presents himself as an independent journalist has more than 200,000 subscribers on social networks with which he expresses his frank support for Russia and his opposition to vaccines against Covid-19. He was interviewed and quoted by the famous American conspirator Alex Jones.
In a statement, police said they were called to a disturbance at Sydney Town Hall around midday on Tuesday. Officers learned that a 76-year-old man was allegedly assaulted during the protest, but was not seriously injured.
"A 32-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken to Day Street Police Station," the statement said without naming Boikov. “He was charged with assault causing actual bodily harm and was granted bail to appear in Downing Center Local Court on Wednesday, January 25, 2023.”
In a post on Telegram after the incident, Simeon Boikov compared the Russian-Ukrainian war to footballers faking an injury.
"The Ukrainians attack the Russians and when the Russians defend themselves, the Ukrainians lie on the ground like Brazilian footballers pretending to be victims," he wrote.
