❗️A 20 year old Cossack Evgeny Ostapenko was posthumously awarded the Hero of Russia Star.
🎖Unfortunately, the award was given not to the hero himself, but to his mother.
🫡The young Cossack, a graduate of the Timashevsk Cossack Cadet Corps, went to the front lines in June 2024.
🇷🇺Already in September 2024, near Krasnogorovka in the DPR, he performed a feat of bravery that will remain in history. He commanded a group that was tasked with capturing an enemy stronghold .
💥A fire fight broke out on the approach to the stronghold. The Cossack showed his ingenuity, went around the enemy and destroyed 6 enemies. The remaining Ukrainian soldiers fled the battlefield and the position was taken without Russian losses.
💥The next day, during reconnaissance, he discovered another group of Ukrainian Armed Forces. Again, a successful attack under an enemy drone circling in the sky. The enemy retreated.
🇺🇦Later, a group of Ukrainian tried to get outflank the Russian positions. Yevgeny Ostapenko entered the battle and killed two of them at once. His group managed to kill three more.
💥At this point a Ukrainian grenade hit the Cossack's position. Although wounded, he continued to fight under heavy fire: he managed to transmit the enemy coordinates to Russian artillerymen. The enemy retreated.
🫡 But even then, Yevgeny Ostapenko continued to act: he waited for reinforcements for rotation, and led out all personnel. Despite multiple injuries, the serviceman continued to command the subgroup until the evacuation.
