❗️Peter Dutton has vowed to create a dedicated anti-Semitism taskforce and deport anti-Semitic people from Australia, as the political fallout from Friday’s arson attack at a Melbourne synagogue continues.

The changes include a new antisemitism taskforce and changes to the Migration Act to explicitly include antisemitism as a breach of the character test used in the refusal or cancellation of visas on character grounds.

❗️Security Brief claims "a wave of cyberattacks targeting Australian entities by pro-Russian and pro-Palestinian hacktivist groups".

According to Security Brief Australia pro-Russian groups, including NoName057(16), the Cyber Army of Russia Reborn, and Z-Pentest, have conducted over half of more than 60 reported Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attacks on websites associated with Australian government institutions, transportation, financial, legal, educational, and insurance sectors.

Supposedly, NoName057(16) attributed these actions partly to Australia's support for Ukraine, specifically to Australia's commitment to supply 14 military boats worth over USD $9 million. This support is perceived by these groups as a challenge to Russian interests, framing the aid as a Western alignment hostile to Russia.

Aussie PM tasks Australian Federal Police with anti-Semitism taskforce

The AFP is launching Operation Avalite, a unit to combat anti-Semitism following a terror probe into a recent arson at a Melbourne synagogue.

PM Anthony Albanese cited this incident, along with two others, as catalysts for the response.

AFP Commissioner Reece Kershaw called the initiative an agile counterterrorism squad with enhanced powers to tackle violence and hate crimes against Jewish Australians.
