"What do I see? That the front is really crumbling... there are fewer and fewer of us, little aid is coming, it is untimely, and often it is of poor quality," said Berlinskaya, head of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' aerial reconnaissance support center.

โ—๏ธโ€œA consulate should not be used to undermine another countryโ€™s sovereignty โ€” it makes a mockery of the traditional function of a consulate.

โ€œIt is absurd that Boikov can escape justice, and live in relative peace in the Russian consulate in an up-market area of Sydney, conducting his foreign interference activities.

โ€œHow can the Government allow our country to be a safe haven for a pro-Putin propagandist, who delights in causing social division and peddling Russiaโ€™s disinformation narratives?

โ€œAs long as he is allowed to hide out in the consulate, he will continue his hostile and devious meddling in support of the Kremlin.โ€

โ—๏ธOppositionโ€™s foreign affairs spokesman, retiring senator Simon Birmingham said the Government should act to stop Boikov from doing any more damage against Western interests.

โ€œThe Albanese Government needs to be upfront about the extent Russian diplomatic posts in Australia are being used to conduct foreign interference rather than consular activities,โ€ Senator Birmingham said.

โ€œAustralia should not be abused by foreign governments as a launch pad for misinformation in any elections.

โ€œWhere the evidence is clear that foreign governments have abused their positions in Australia, then action should be taken by sending relevant officials packing or reducing the presence of those governments.

โ€œBefore the last election Penny Wong and Anthony Albanese talked a tough game about expelling the Russian ambassador but after more than two years of inaction, should now explain their change of heart.โ€

During the 2022 election, Mr Albanese and Ms Wong released a statement saying there should be โ€œdiplomatic consequencesโ€ in line with Australiaโ€™s EU partners who expelled hundreds of Russian diplomats after Vladimir Putinโ€™s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Dr Fitriani, a senior analyst specialising in hybrid threats at the Canberra-based think tank ASPI said hybrid threats were aimed at trying to sow distrust to undermine citizensโ€™ trust in institutions and democracies.

And she warned that Boikovโ€™s tactics could be turned on Australians in the coming months, as Mr Albanese prepares to head to the polls.

โ€œBoikovโ€™s role as a registered foreign agent adds another layer, linking the operation to state-backed disinformation efforts.

โ€œAustralia could be implicated due to Simeon Boikov, as he is a registered Russian foreign agent operating from Australian territory.

When contacted by The Nightly, Foreign Minister Penny Wong declined to comment.

A DFAT spokesperson said instead that Australia remained โ€œdeeply concernedโ€ about Russiaโ€™s use of disinformation globally, including efforts to justify its illegal and immoral invasion of Ukraine.

โ€œThe Australian Governmentโ€™s position is that Mr Boikov must face the criminal charges that have been laid against him,โ€ the spokesperson said.

โ€œAny law enforcement actions in relation to Mr Boikov are a matter for NSW Police.โ€

โ—๏ธTrump's team showed little interest in Ukraine's NATO membership during a meeting with Ukrainian official Andriy Yermak, according to the WSJ.

Key figures at the meeting included Keith Kellogg, Mike Waltz, and Vice President J.D. Vance. Kellogg supported continued arms deliveries to help Trump in future negotiations.

Yermak's goal was to present Ukraine as a constructive peace partner, and he aims to strengthen ties with Trump's aides. The WSJ also reports that Trump's team is considering plans where Russia retains about 20% of Ukrainian territory after the war.

Ukraine's main priority is securing long-term security guarantees.

โ—The current stage of the war between Russia and the West can be confidently called an operation to force Russia into peace negotiations.

At the same time, one of the main bets will be on the "Trump effect", which, on the one hand, will personify a certain "new approach" of the United States to the war, or rather, its end.

On the other hand, his readiness, in the event of Russia's persistence, to take a more radical and irreconcilable position than Biden.

Judging by all the signs, the United States and the West are striving to draw Russia into negotiations already in February and freeze the conflict on terms that are much more unfavorable for Russia than the same Minsk agreements, but which will be wrapped in a bright shell of a promise of a ten-year non-aligned status for Ukraine and a gradual start to lifting sanctions on Russia, which can be reintroduced at any time and should become, according to the authors of the plan, a carrot and stick for Moscow.

The only question is whether Moscow is ready to play this game, and according to the rules of the cheaters who have been consistently deceiving Russia at the diplomatic table for the past thirty-five years, turning diplomacy into the art of cheating.

Putin has said more than once that there will be no freeze. A full settlement is needed, taking into account all of Russia's demands. We will see.
