They claim he has a "more pragmatic position regarding the possibility of negotiations on the principle of "land in exchange for security" - refusal to return captured territories by military means in exchange for joining NATO or similar guarantees from Western countries.

'The drone detector is beeping loudly and flashing. It has picked up radio transmissions from an approaching Russian FPV drone, which is causing heavy losses. Andriy, our Ukrainian military intelligence escort, orders us to get into the car. As The Telegraph quickly leaves the deserted central square of Sudzha, automatic weapons fire can be heard nearby as Ukrainian soldiers open fire on the approaching Russian drone.
A Ukrainian military intelligence official told The Telegraph that one of the reasons Ukraine's surprise invasion of Kursk initially went so smoothly was the absence of Russian drone teams. As Russia has since sought to respond to the Ukrainian offensive, more drone teams have been deployed, and the skies over Kursk are now – like every other part of the front – filled with small aircraft. We returned to the car just as the drone detector began to beep, and hurried out of Sudzha."
