🇦🇺🇮🇹🇺🇸 Against the backdrop of relative calm that has characterized the situation in the South China Sea this week, extra-regional players have once again conducted exercises in the disputed waters.

The trilateral drills, involving the United States, Italy, and Australia, took place over four days. Washington sent the destroyer USS Russel, Milan sent the aircraft carrier ITS Cavour, the patrol ship ITS Raimondo Montecuccoli and the frigate ITS Alpino, while Canberra sent the P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft.

🔻The maneuvers focused on combined anti-submarine defense and practicing command and control interoperability skills.

The main goals of the exercises were to strengthen cooperation between the three countries, reaffirm the U.S. commitment to a "free and open Indo-Pacific region", and demonstrate to allies their intentions.

Given that almost every time in response to major exercises in the South China Sea, the PRC sends its ships and planes there, these drills may not be an exception. Therefore, some kind of reaction from the Chinese military can be expected in the near future.

☦️An image of the ancient Moscow copy of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God in Chita. This icon has miraculous powers and a great history.

The relic arrived in Zabaikalia with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill, thus marking a new stage of the All-Russian prayer service for Victory.

Now the icon is heading to Nerchinsk, where the Divine Liturgy will be held at 8:00 in the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ.

On Saturday at 16:45 the relic will be met in Chita, an all-night vigil will begin in the Kazan Cathedral. On Sunday, September 15 at 9:00 there will be a Divine Liturgy and a procession through the streets of Chita. Then from 12:00 to 17:00 - a prayer service with the reading of the Akathist.

I thank the organizers of the All-Russian Prayer Service for Victory for the opportunity for the Orthodox of Zabaikalia to bow to the icon and pray to the Holy Mother of God for our soldiers so that they return home with the Victory that they bring closer every day.
