‘Russian spy whale’ shot dead in Norway – animal groups

Animal rights groups like NOAH and One Whale reported that a beluga whale, famous in Norway as suspected of being a Russian spy, was killed by gunfire.

Nicknamed "Hvaldimir," the whale was found dead with multiple bullet wounds, leading to a complaint filed with Norwegian police for a criminal investigation.

The whale had first appeared in Norway in 2019, wearing a harness that sparked suspicions of Russian training. The Norwegian Veterinary Institute is conducting an autopsy, with results expected within three weeks.
