Dr Pavlovsky accused the Albanese government of βvirtue signallingβ by complaining about alleged Russian spy operations.

Asked whether alleged Russian spies were active in Australia in light of the Korolev arrests and revelations last year that ASIO had dismantled a Russian βhiveβ of spies posing as diplomats, Dr Pavlovsky chuckled at the question.
βItβs a paranoiac-like atmosphere and well, we can do jokes about it but at the end of the day itβs serious, it involves peopleβs lives,β he said.

βHe was sentenced for espionage and his guilt was proven in court,β Dr Pavlovsky insisted.
βThere are US spies in Russia completing their missions. Could some of these spies have a journalist cover? Absolutely. Why not? If you look at the history you see that many well-known Western journalists and writers used to be spies.β
Dr Pavlovsky lashed Australiaβs military aid for Ukraine, which now exceeds $1.1 billion since President Vladimir Putin ordered the invasion in 2022, saying Western countries were complicit in prolonging the war.
