❗⚡️ Zelensky signed a law allowing prisoners convicted for minor crimes to be sent to the front in exchange for parole

Ukrainian authorities expect to conscript up to 20 thousand prisoners but the Ukrainian media are not that optimistic.

They estimate that there are approximately 10-15 thousand people fit for mobilization, possibly even less. A survey by the Ukrainian media Strana shows that very few are willing to go and fight: some people don’t have long to serve, and therefore they see no point in joining the army, others think that being in prison is better than being in a trench with the prospect of death.

Sources in the penitentiary system do not rule out that the recruitment of prisoners will not be voluntary, and that there will be quotas for how many must be mobilized from each prison.

⚡️General Sergei Surovikin and a number of other military leaders who fell into disgrace under the previous leadership of the Ministry of Defense may again be in demand. This opinion was expressed by experts interviewed by URA.RU.

⚡️The appointment of Alexander Lapin to the strategic Leningrad Military District can be considered as the start of the process of a possible “return” of other commanders, said Petr Kolchin, an analyst at the Center for Expert Support of Political Processes. According to the expert, the name that comes to mind first is Sergei Surovikin.

⚡️— Surovikin enjoys a certain popularity in the army and among citizens. He may again take a high position, but this may happen in a non-public manner, the analyst believes.

⚡️Political scientist Sergei Markov previously noted that “everyone is waiting for Surovikin to return to the Ukrainian front. He noted that there is an opinion about the high competence of the general, who is considered the best in the ranks of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

⚡️Surovikin’s departure could have been a mistake and a decision made on the basis of “personal grievances” of former Russian deputy ministers of defence.
