๐Today is the names day of Father Michael Vasiliev (left) a martyred priest who was killed during a US missile strike in Herson last year. He was posthumously awarded Hero of the Russian Federation by Vladimir Putin.๐

Ten years ago, on November 21, protests began on the Maidan in Ukraine. Just over a thousand civic activists protested the suspension of Ukraine's signing of an Association Agreement with the European Union.
At first, the protests were peaceful. But soon, nationalist slogans began to be heard. Radical groups threw smoke bombs and Molotov cocktails at the police. At least 80 people were killed in riots during the winter of 2013-2014, according to the Ukrainian Interior Ministry. Another 800 were wounded and injured.
Who taught the nationalists how to behave? Find the answers in an excerpt from Fast Forward to Fascism (2022).
