i marked the different spaces on the fandom website, the actual useable space for information is a joke. not to mention the auto playing video that has scroll-driven layout transition and follows you while scrolling away from it.

TikTok's block button conveniently breaks every time you try to block someone from a sponsored ad

I block a lot of people on TikTok, like 20+ a day, easy.... Yes, I'm a miserable person. Not the point. But I have zero issues clicking any other button anywhere else in the app. Follow, like, comment, report, all instant, every time.

But every single time I try to block someone whose content showed up as a sponsored ad, it breaks down the same way.

I'm watching the sponsored ad, and when I click on the creator's account, a popup or webpage for the ad itself opens up, which I have to exit out of first just to get to their actual profile page. Once I'm finally on their profile, I go to the arrow icon in the top right corner to bring up the block option, and one of two things happens: either the arrow won't respond when I tap it, or it opens fine and I tap "block" and nothing happens. Either way, I end up having to leave their profile entirely, which sends me back to the original ad, then I have to go back into their profile and do the whole thing over again, and it works the second time. Every time. Not sometimes. Every single time, for as long as I can remember.

I work in social media (not TikTok), so I know how ad metrics generally work. Views, profile visits, and re-opens can all count as engagement or impressions depending on how a platform reports them to advertisers. Which makes me wonder if this "glitch" isn't a glitch at all. If forcing a second open of an ad-adjacent profile is quietly padding an impression count somewhere, at the exact moment a user is trying to disengage from that content.

Has anyone else run into this on TikTok specifically? Only on sponsored content, or is it random for you?

Discord's report system warned ME for "abusing the report system" β€” after I reported child sexual abuse material.

I found content on Discord that was clearly child sexual abuse material. I reported it through the official in-app report tool β€” exactly what you're supposed to do.

Discord's response: a warning on my account for "abusing the report system."

So their system looked at a report of CSAM and decided the problem was the person who reported it. Not the content. The reporter.

A reporting system that punishes people for reporting the worst content on the platform isn't a safety feature β€” it's the opposite. The only thing it teaches people is don't report.

That's the asshole design.
