‎I met someone who told me about a story of a friend of theirs who was a driving instructor. His friend came home late from a shift and was about to enter his house but he realised there was just enough time to go to the Masjid for ‘Isha Salah. Before he left, he told his twelve-year old son to join him. They managed to join the congregation, standing in the back row.

‎However, after a while the man started feeling unwell and collapsed on to the ground. His son shouted for help, and someone called the ambulance. As they waited, they tried to awaken the man who was now motionless and no longer breathing. When the paramedics arrived at the scene, they pronounced him dead. He had suffered a massive brain haemorrhage. He was only thirty-seven years old… may Allah have mercy on his soul.

‎One wonders how close this man was to dying at home, maybe eating dinner or relaxing on the sofa, but Allah the Almighty instead honoured him with a death during Salah. He had no idea, nor did his son, that that ‘Isha Salah would be his last.

‎After hearing that story, I wondered: Do I know which Salah will be my last? Are we even guaranteed to see another one?

‎Once a man came to the Prophet ﷺ and requested, “O Messenger of Allah, teach me something and please make it short.” The Prophet ﷺ obliged and said, “When you stand for Salah pray as though you are saying good-bye.” What does this mean?

‎The word in Arabic is muwaddi’in, which means farewell. The advice is therefore to pray each prayer as though you believe it might be your last. This will have a hugely positive impact on how that Salah is offered and the level of Khushū’ you will muster up. No one would want the last Salah of their life to be done half-heartedly, or worse absent-mindedly.

‎If you struggle to appreciate the truth of this, remind yourself about the story of the driving instructor. Imagine how he will be resurrected on the Day of Judgement, when his final act in this life was standing in Salah.
As some of you already know. My late cousin passed away. May Allah have mercy upon him. He was my age & leaves behind a wife and 2 young kids. His Janaza is finished & now he needs our help in his next journey of the Akhirah.

The Prophet ﷺ told us all the good deeds of a person are cut off except 3, and 1 of those is Sadaqa Jaariya.

We would like to build a deep well and a new masjid side by side in his name for this reason.

Please help me make this a reality by adding your donation here

Free seminar next week exploring Surah ar-Rahman. Plz forward n share.
An amazing Hadith & 3 powerful lessons

A man met a woman who was a prostitute in the time of ignorance and he flirted with her until he wanted to touch her.

The woman said, “Stop, for Allah has taken away idolatry and come to us with Islam.” The man left but later ended up walking straight into a wall, hitting his face and injuring his head.

He went to the Prophet ﷺ and told him about it.
The Prophet said, “You are a servant, and Allah wants good for you. When Allah want goodness for a servant, He hastens the punishment for his sins. But if He intended harm, He withholds the punishment for his sins until the servant arrives on the Day of Resurrection as if he were a wild donkey.”

3 Lessons we learn for this hadith

1. The mercy of Allah manifests in different ways. Sometimes we experience trouble in life because of a sin we have committed. It is from the mercy of Allah that He decreed that to happen as it will save us from a bigger punishment in the grave or worse, hell fire.

2. The Prophet created a bond of trust and openness with his Companions, so much so that they could even share private matters with him. In this case the issue was quite embarrassing for the person.

3. Islam grants the person honour and dignity. The lady in the story was a former prostitute but she felt empowered by Islam to the point that she can let go of her shameful past and live a dignified life.

Oddly enough the thing I get asked about the most in Ramadan is Salatul Witr. It makes sense I suppose, since many are now praying Tarawih and even Tahajjud after Isha. Things like:

‘Which version of Witr should I pray?’

‘What Duʿa should I make?’

‘Can I delay my Witr until I’ve prayed Qiyamul Layl?’

‘What if I pray in the masjid but pray again at home?’

So, we’re going to do a whole webinar on Witr for FREE this Sat 2pm which you can all tune in and benefit inshā Allāh

Did you know that the Prophet ﷺ told people who ate garlic & onions not to come to the masjid? Here’s why

‎Because their breath will stink and they will annoy fellow worshippers.

‎In Ramadan we all cosy up in the masjid for tarawih prayers & the usual suspects turn up, belting out dry-aged burbs infused with toxic masala. I feel like the Hoblos meme would be perfect rn.

‎But seriously, please be considerate when coming to the masjid.

‎Beautify the house of Allah with gracious manners, fine clothes & impeccable hygiene.

“He who eats garlic or onion should remain away from us or from our mosque and stay in his house”

Praise be to Allah!!! Part 3 of the Simple Seerah is now complete and off to the printers. What do guys think of the new cover? Can you guess what it’s about?

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗵?
It’s a series telling the story of the beloved Prophet ﷺ in the style of a novel. That’s never been done before and alhamdulillah the first 2 parts have rocketed to best-selling status in its category. Targeted for young adults but suitable for everyone really.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝟯 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁?
Since migrating to Madinah, there have been two major battles in less than three years: Badr and Uhud. Where the first was a decisive victory, the second resulted in heavy losses for the Muslims. The Simple Seerah part 3 returns to the scene in the wake of Uhud where the Muslim community is picking up the pieces, wondering how everything went so wrong.
