BYD, which stands for Build Your Dreams, is a Chinese company headquartered in Shenzhen. It entered the Singapore market in 2014. According to the Land Transport Authority's (LTA) annual vehicle statistics, BYD, which specialises in electric vehicles and petrol-electric hybrid cars, sold 11,184 units, or just over one-fifth of the 52,678 cars sold in 2025.

Singapore-flagged vessel sinks off Scarborough Shoal in South China Sea, at least 2 dead

Singapore-flagged vessel Devon Bay capsized about 100km northwest of the shoal disputed by China and the Philippines. The cargo ship was enroute to China.

The Maritime Port Authority of Singapore said that there were no Singaporeans onboard the Singapore-registered vessel, Devon Bay.

In a Facebook post at 11.35pm, RSAF said that it was made aware of online posts alleging a bomb threat at its air base.
