از این کمدی هراس، که اغلب شادیآور است و همراه با طنز انگلیسی، بعد مدتها تنها یاد تصویرهای بینظیرِ (که مدیون روبرت بورکس است) گیاهان زیر درختان جنگل انگلستان جدید و نورهای پاییزی باقی ماند. گویی برای اولینبار هیچکاک به طبیعت بیجان (برگهای خشک زرد و قرمز) بیش از طبیعت انسانی علاقه نشان داده. گویی برای هیچکاک یکباره و تنها یکبار این توهم پیش آمد که خوشبختی امکانپذیر است.ترجمهی فارسی این نقد در کتاب همیشه استاد قرار گرفته است.
