the Cyrillic text reads "Zionism is Racism"
referring to the United Nations General Assembly Resolution 3379, which classified Zionism as a form of racism or racial discrimination in 1975.
which was later revoked in December 1991, days before the USSR was fully desintegrated.
"Those who write and draw for Palestine have to identify themselves: eventually dead".
Artist and cartoonist Naji Al-Ali, the creator of the character "Handala" (a national symbol of palestine and a personification of the Palestinian people), predicted his own death, as he was assasinated in London today in 1987.

Handala's name (حنظلة) comes from plant local to Palestine which bears a bitter fruit, grows back when cut and has deep roots.
Naji Al-Ali writes: "Handala was born 10 years old and he will always be 10 years old. It was at that age that I left my homeland. When Handala returns, he will still be 10 years old, and then he will start growing up."
Naji was 10 years old when he was expelled from his homeland in 1948, thus why he chose this age.
He also writes: "He was the arrow of the compass, pointing steadily towards Palestine. Not just Palestine in geographical terms, but Palestine in its humanitarian sense—the symbol of a just cause, whether it is located in Egypt, Vietnam or South Africa."
Handala today is and will always be the symbol that Palestinians will hold dearly, drawn on the Israeli west bank apartheid walls, or in the refugee camps that i was passing by in Lebanon, or posted on social media.
And since the Palestinian cause and the Arab cause are one, Handala was used also to describe Arab struggle.
