Ph.D. #1 will work on a project related to seismic behavior and design of fiber-reinforced polymer (#FRP) reinforced concrete structure. The project will primarily focus on numerical simulation and design code development while the candidate will also have access to the experimental part of this project. The candidate for this position should have a strong interest in developing sustainable, durable, and resilient structures with new materials. The candidate is expected to have a GPA over 3.7/4.0 for both BS and MS degrees and ideally have prior experience with OpenSees or other numerical simulation software.
Ph.D. #2 will work on a project related to multi-physics topology optimization of #UHPC (Ultra-high performance concrete) structure. The project will heavily utilize different optimization techniques to design structures with low carbon footprint and high energy efficiency. The candidate for this position should have a strong interest in developing sustainable and energy-efficient buildings with optimization and new materials. the candidate is expected to have a GPA over 3.7/4.0 for both BS and MS degrees and ideally demonstrate a strong mathematical and programming background.
The Ph.D. candidates will also have the opportunity to develop other projects related to sustainable and resilient concrete infrastructure.
