آموختن کدنویسی درست مثل یاد گرفتن یک زبان جدید است: درهای جدیدی را در تمامی زمینه‌های زندگی به روی فرد باز می‌کند. حضور تکنولوژی در زندگی روزمره ما لحظه به لحظه پررنگ‌تر می‌شود و سواد کامپیوتری بویژه برای نسل آینده ضروری است. البته، کدنویسی برای کودکان راهی برای بروز خلاقیت نیز هست، همینطور راهی برای یاد گرفتن شیوه‌های ارتباط موثر، حل مسئله و تصمیم‌گیری.

یک موسسه خیریه کبکی به نام «Kids Code Jeunesse» کارگاه‌های کدنویسی برای کودکان و نوجوانان ۸ تا ۱۳ ساله برگزار می‌کند. کارگاه‌های این موسسه رایگان و دوزبانه هستند و موضوعاتی از قبیل کدنویسی بازی کامپیوتری، هنر دیجیتال، کدنویسی و علوم طبیعی، الگوریتم و گفتگو درباره تکنولوژی را در بر می‌گیرد.
