AI will be awful for us, but it's only one part of the wider problem of automatization that is common to practically all post-industrial societies. Industrial society is defined by the fact that humans are gradually made irrelevant by machines.

The reason Gen Z sees life as unsatisfying and pointless is because it is. A life in an artificial environment isolated from wild Nature can never be truly satisfying, no matter how comfortable you might find it.
