Interesting info on the so called "Rune of Óðinn".. Thanks to Tribe of the Fox for a post bringing it to attention.. We've seen this with symbols like the Vegvisir as well. We find out that they are newer symbols (definitely not ancient Viking symbols) possibly related to jewish or judeo-christian characters from the 14th century or other periods.

The more you look the more questions there are. How much of what we think is the history and traditions of our Folk actually belongs to us? We know that things like the Eddas were probably assembled by christian authors. It wouldn't be out of the realm to discover that everything we have of written history related to our ancient folk is incorrect or at least heavily distorted. We've watched them redefine and change perception of history in real time over the last 30 years. Personally I feel I just can't be confident about the information we have. I Feel that working with intuition and blood memory can probably bring us to a closer understanding and connection of who we are.

May we never settle for mediocrity, but always remember that effort is worth more than result. May we rise above the doldrums of all this modern world afflicts us with, & ever seek to better ourselves & those around us. May we honor ourselves, our family, our friends, our fellow kinsmen of the faith, & above all, when our days are numbered & we walk the Hellsida, may the gods judge us favorably & our ancestors welcome us home with pride and celebration. The heathen gods are more humanistic, with faults, and imperfections to go along with their strengths and deific abilities. That is why they are more believable, not out of the mind’s reach.
In ethnic faith, the gods are tied to the people because they are family and through that bond are always with us no matter where we are in the world.

So, yes they are tied to the people, and the people inhabit the land, therefore the gods do as well. Where one biospirit dominates a region, the deity flows from the people transforming the landscape to reflect its influence.

How christian was Europe really? let us read Adam of Bremen who, being a priest, was very biased, yet even he had to admit the facts. Here are some excepts:

all its inhabitants still blunder about in pagan rites. Otherwise, so far as morals and hospitality are concerned, a more honorable or kindlier folk cannot be found.

Slavs and the Swedes still appear to observe in their pagan rites

everyone who now believed would quickly relapse into paganism

we see those who were the first to believe fall back into paganism

Gold is very plentiful there, the horses are of the best; all the houses are full of pagan soothsayers, diviners, and necromancers

those who previously under his grandfather Mistivoi had fallen back into paganism

Kindly received by the Slavs, contrary to his expectations, because they were pagans

Conclusion: «centuries of christianity» my ass
