AI is legitimately amazing. If you have just enough knowledge to know what is possible, AI is like having a specialist who can make what you see as possible into an almost perfect reality. To do what he says, without destroying society, you would need to kill back massive numbers of humans, who were not advancing the species, so that the remaining society would be as functional as you could get it.
